Three specialist guest speakers, talking about important eye health issues….

  1. Professor Lauren Ayton AM – Co-Head Retinal Gene Therapy Unit, CERA
Topic: Lauren will explain how Inherited Retinal Diseases (or IRDs) can affect people of any age, the pipeline of experimental therapies available and, more importantly, how CERA partners with people with IRDs in what research to do and treatments to try.
  2. Associate Professor Luis Alarcon-Martinez – Head of Visual Neurovascular Research, CERA

Topic: Geographic Atrophy (GA – Dry form of Age-related Macular Degeneration), an advanced form of age related macular degeneration (AMD). The presentation will describe how the condition affects the retina over time, what these changes mean for vision, and how people may experience gradual and irreversible vision loss.
