Ride For Sight
Do you like to ride a bike?
Lions Club of Inverloch and District want to sponsor 2 riders from our community who would like to be part of the Lions Ride for Sight Charity Ride.
In 2025, the 31st ‘Lions Ride for Sight’ will be held in the Central Gippsland region from Friday 2 May until Monday 5 May.
The ride will leave from Traralgon on Friday 2 May 2025 and will finish back at the Lions Convention on Monday 5 May 2025. Riders are requested to attend the night prior to the event to prepare for the ride (Thursday 1 May 2025).
Accommodation for 3 nights will be provided at Traralgon West Sporting Complex and 1 night accommodation at Gippsland Regional Sporting Club Complex in Sale.
The purpose of the Ride for Sight event, has been, since 1994, to raise funds for the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) for valuable research into preventable blindness -diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. Funds raised next year will go to Assoc Professor Rick Liu research team at CERA into gene therapy’s potential to replace eye injections for those suffering from wet form of macular degeneration.
For the last 2 years we have supported TEAM SISTERS whose parents suffer from Macular Degeneration. In 2024 we also sponsored our member, Allen Archbold on the ride.
About Us
The Lions Club of Inverloch is located in Victoria, Australia.
What we do
Lions Australia has a proud history of achievement in Disaster and Emergency Relief, Medical Research and Community Service. We were at the coalface for Cyclone Tracy, the Black Saturday bush fires and the Queensland floods.
We were involved with the development of the bionic ear and the cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil, developed by Prof Ian Frazer AC, a former Lions Medical Research Foundation Fellow. We also inspired a young Fred Hollows and continue to provide funding for a range of other research initiatives involving diabetes and autism.
We assist with local community fundraising for special causes and help with the development and building of local parks, community venues, and sporting centres.
