Ride for Sight – March 2026 (Registrations close 9th January)

Raise money for research aiming to prevent blindness while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Gippsland with fellow cyclists.

The Ride for Sight is an annual event organised by Lions District 201 V 3 in support of their mission to serve the community.

All money raised supports the Centre for Eye Research Australia’s groundbreaking research to find new and improved treatments for vision loss.

Setting off from Longwarry on Thursday, 19 March to complete a circuit through Yinnar, Inverloch and Nyora, enjoying the rolling South West Gippsland countryside returning to Longwarry on Sunday, 22 March.

Ride Information

There have been a few updates to the daily ride distances (with further tweaks still possible)

o Day #1 (19 March) Longwarry to Churchill 79km, 690m
o Day #2 (20 March) Churchill to Inverloch 109km, 934m
o Day #3 (21 March) Inverloch to Nyora* 81km, 768m
o Day #4 (22 March) Nyora to Longwarry 44km, 119m

*The overnight stop at Nyora is still under review. Further details will be provided when the location is confirmed with the Lions Club of Strzelecki.

The pre-ride dinner will be at the Longwarry Hotel, 4 Kennedy St, Longwarry 3816.

For anyone needing to travel to Longwarry by train, it’s served by V/Line (Traralgon – Bairnsdale).

Although daily ride distances are not too lengthy, the route does have quite a few hills (as you can see from the elevation gains above), so it’s a good idea to start training early.

E-bikes are welcome if you feel you need a bit of extra support along the way.

As with previous years, vision impaired riders are most welcome to participate on their tandem.
